As part of the first edition of the Festival of Science in Verona, a public meeting with the engineer Enrico Dini was organized, a pioneer of 3D printing in architecture.
In 2007, he sent a proposal to the European Space Agency to build buildings on the Moon using lunar soil. On this basis, ESA issued a call for tenders. Dini then formed a consortium of companies participating and winning the competition. In 2014, the results of his research were published in the journal Acta Astronautica, gaining international success and marking the de facto start of the race for the colonization of the Moon and, by extension, Mars.
