Verona

A workshop that involved first the female students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona from the Performing Techniques course of Giovanni Morbin, and then, in Milan, the students from the Sculpture course of Donata Lazzarini of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.

Starting from Vai pure, a dialogue between Carla Lonzi and her companion Piero Consagra published at the beginning of the 1980s, the workshop developed research on the condition of women, from professional inequalities to the image offered by the mass media, up to the words, looks and attitudes that relegate women to a collective imagination marked by a patriarchal and sexist culture.

At the end of the workshop in Verona, an action tour went through the city to visually narrate the female condition with a series of performances conceived by the students on the theme of separation and visual, verbal and gestural relationships.

The first issue of Fuori registro | quaderni di pedagogia e arte contemporanea published by the fuoriregistro editorial collective and Studio Boîte was dedicated to the project, focusing on sentimental relationships, their eventual end and the ways to approach it, seen from a gender perspective.
