MAI PACIFICA is a selection of works by the artists of the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona created during the spring lockdown, presented in the outdoor showcases and windows of the Teatro Nuovo in Verona. It is a collection of photos, videos, images and installations produced in an attempt to come to terms with the limitations and obstacles generated by their isolation in their homes. In some cases these are works linked to observation, in others to reflection and meditation.
A creative use of the state of exception, an effort not to remain passive in the face of an epochal crisis and to try instead to transform the anomalous historical experience into a driver of expression. The very fact that the works are exhibited in relation to the second wave of the epidemic, overcoming the new limits imposed by the latest restrictions that closed theatres, museums and exhibitions, among others, testifies in an iconic way to the urge to be unwilling to silence one's artistic voice and the desire to keep the public spaces linked to the production of art and culture alive and active.
