Mobilities
Through the participation 20 artists from different fields to 4 artistic residences for the production of works inspired by the classical elements (Water, Fire, Earth and Aether), and the posterior distribution of the work through Social Networks and platforms

Capacity-Building - New digital skills

7 June – 20 June 2021
Former Dogana di Fiume, Verona

The residency in Verona is organized by the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona and, thanks to the collaboration with the Canoe Club Verona, it is hosted in a symbolic place of the city, the former Dogana di Fiume (River Customs), now a sports venue and research center on the river Adige.

The residency aimed at the research and on-site production of an artistic work/intervention on the theme of EARTH.
It considered the Adige River that crosses the city and its historic River Custom House as a privileged space of investigation on the theme from the material point of view (soil, stones and sand as natural and artificial matters, solids and surfaces), political (homeland, land of landing, border), social (ground for meeting, sharing and conflict) to explore the languages of public art and, transversally, of art in the natural environment, for which the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona has many years of experience in research and production.

The residency is connected to the activities and spaces of the Academy and the School of New Technologies for Art of the Academy, which have its headquarters near the former Dogana di Fiume.

At the end of the residency, /FALEN/A a flickering audio/visual night event presented the works made at the former Dogana di Fiume in which a group of the "Generation Z" students of the Academy and the Art High School of Verona) also took part together with a live audio visual performance by Fabio Volpi aka _Dies.

In connection with the residency, the artists and the students involved from the Academy took take part in a 4-day workshop on "Mapping projections & immersive experiences" held by teachers of the School of New Technologies for Art of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona and the research center MaxLab of the AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp.
