IncrASTible! L’incredibile Monastero Di Astino. Realtà Aumentata per rinnovare l'offerta culturale e didattica in tempo di distanziamento sociale (“IncrASTible! The Incredible Monastery of Astino. Augmented Reality for renewing cultural and educational offerings in times of social distancing”)
is a project promoted by the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona, CNR Imati, OPS Association, with the Congregazione della Misericordia Maggiore di Bergamo (MIA Foundation) as project leader, with the support of Cariplo Foundation, within the framework of the Per la Cultura 2020 call.

In 2007, the Congregazione della Misericordia Maggiore di Bergamo (MIA Foundation) purchased the Vallombrosian monastic complex of Astino and the surrounding land, covering an area of about 60 hectares in the Parco dei Colli in Bergamo.
The Monastery of Astino, located within the municipal territory of Bergamo, has been the subject of major restoration works between 2013 and 2019 that saved it from the condition of ruin it was slipping into, returning it to the community without imposing entrance fees, but creating an open, neutral space available for services or events.
Today, however, Astino has acquired a mainly commercial purpose.

The project, which runs from October 2021 to December 2022, aims to renew the cultural offer of the Monastery of Astino by proposing new approaches to the fruition of the heritage through innovative technologies and a campaign of restoration and conservation activity of a hall of the Monastery.
At the same time, it wants to offer to students and new graduates of the School of New Technologies for Art and the School of Restoration of the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona, under the guidance of teachers, the opportunity to give their full measure in person in a highly professional context.

The aim is to create a system of active involvement with the architectural environment and with the public that would be able to not only enhance the value of the building and rekindle the touristic flow, but also elevate it to the status of a real generator of culture, involving teachers, students, professionals and local cultural companies in a creative process with high impact on the territory of the city.
